Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I dispose of my recalled light?
A: Please dispose of the bike light in accordance with your local regulations for lithium-ion batteries. Improper disposal can lead to environmental hazards or safety risks. Do not put it in the trash. Do not send via post or courier. Do not place it in standard battery recycling boxes at stores. Because recalled lithium-ion batteries require special handling, they should be disposed of in accordance with your local and state ordinances, following the procedures established by your municipal recycling centre for damaged, defective, or recalled lithium-ion batteries.

Q: Why are you recalling these lights?
A: The battery inside these specific batches of lights could potentially degrade over time, cause malfunction, and in some cases, pose a fire hazard.

Q: I have a Blinder not being recalled, is it safe?
A: Yes. We have been through an incredibly thorough process of testing to identify the bike lights and batches impacted. We can confirm that all other Knog bike lights are safe to use.

Q: Is the Blinder 900 Limited Spec (purple) included in the recall?
A: No, the Blinder 900 Limited Spec lights are not included in the recall. As these lights are unaffected, there is no need to submit a claim.

Q: How likely is an issue with the light?
A: We care about our customers and whilst an issue might be unlikely we’re erring on the side of caution and community safety and request that if your light is included in the impacted batches that you participate in the recall and safely dispose of your light immediately.

Q: How long until I get my replacement?
A: With higher contact volumes, it could take up to 2 - 3 weeks for us to initiate the replacement and provide an update to you.

Q: I sold or gave mine away. Should I tell them?
A: If you can, please do. Send them the link www.knog.com/recall so they can participate in the recall.

Q: How do I return my recalled product?
A: You cannot return your bike light. Please follow the disposal instructions above so it’s handled safely.

Q: I have one of the batches listed in the recall but it's been working fine. Should I still get a replacement?
A: Yes. Even if your light has been working well, please complete the recall process at www.knog.com/recall.

Q: I got mine as a gift. Can I still get a replacement?
A: Yes, if you are the owner of the bike light, head to www.knog.com/recall and follow the steps.

Q: What if I bought it second hand or don't have a receipt?
A: We’ll still arrange a replacement if your light is included in the recall. You will not need to prove purchase, only ownership by providing a photo of your light with your name and date.

Q: Will I be charged anything for the replacement?
A: No. The impacted lights will be shipped to you at no cost.

Q: Does this change my warranty?
A: Your replacement light, like every Knog product, is backed by a 2 year warranty.

Q: Why did I receive a different light as a replacement?
A: In some circumstances we may need to upgrade you to a model up in the Blinder range, depending on stock availability at the time of your replacement request. If this is necessary, we will always provide an upgrade, and will not provide you with a product of lesser RRP value.

Q: I'm a retailer. How do I arrange replacement stock?
A: Please complete the form at www.knog.com/recall and we'll get your details and arrange your replacement stock.
